China describes itself as the Middle Kingdom, poised between Heaven and Earth and bridging the two. Our incredible journey to this ancient and modern land of contrasts
is a journey to an emergent global power on the eve of its hosting the 2008 Olympics. It is an amazing time to experience, explore and attune to its cultural heritage, iconic monuments and potential contribution to our collective destiny.
Our itinerary begins in Beijing, the hub of China’s power and prestige where we will
visit the temples of Heaven and Earth, the vast Forbidden City and the Great Wall -
visible, it is said from the Moon.
We will then fly to the mysterious and mystical land of Tibet to explore its ancient
Buddhist traditions that in this sacred place continue to endure.
We will return to China via one of the most wonderful train journeys on Earth, traveling from the Tibetan plateau to Xian where the empire of China began over two thousand years ago.
It was here where the emperor Q’in who gave his name to China, created his capital
after waging the wars that ultimately united the feudal lords of this huge land under his command.
His tomb, with its life-size attendant army of terracotta warriors is a re-discovered wonder of the ancient world.
Our journey culminates with a visit to the holy mountain of Huashan east of Xian where we will experience one of the most awe-inspiring sights in Nature, a total solar eclipse.
We warmly invite you to be our fellow traveler on this amazing journey of inner and
outer discovery to one of the most incredible areas of cultural and natural wonder in the world.
And each evening we will have time to share our experiences and discoveries as a
group, hosted by Jude.
